EMPIRE STATE TRAIL
EMPIRE STATE TRAIL
Route by Parks & Trails New York
Take your cycling to the next level and head north on the newly opened Empire State Trail! This route seamlessly connects to our Westside Manhattan route. Starting from the Little Red Lighthouse, head north along the Hudson River Greenway up to the Dyckman Street Viaduct. There you can have lunch with a view at The Hudson or cruise along the waterfront greenway to the Henry Hudson Bridge. In an exploratory mood? Take a detour to The Met Cloisters at Fort Tryon Park or go for a hike in Inwood Hill Park, Manhattan's only old-growth forest. Want to get those pedals moving? Continue along the route over the Broadway Bridge and navigate your way to Van Cortlandt Park, then onto Tibbetts Brook Park in Yonkers, NY. Get lost in miles of lush greenery along the protected greenway! If you didn’t get your mileage fix, keep going all the way to Poughkeepsie—just another 80 miles. Still not enough? The 750-mile Empire State Trail showcases New York’s diverse history and iconic landscapes. Be sure to check out the full Empire State Trail map.
Parks & Trails New York works to expand, protect and promote a network of parks, trails, and open spaces throughout our state for use and enjoyment by all.
